What is a Concierge?
In short, a concierge is a personal assistant.
Concierge services date from the middle ages when, as a trusted member of the royal staff, the concierge was an
authority in charge of keeping and protecting the keys to the palace. The "keeper of the keys" - the concierge - opened the
palace doors when VIP's came calling, then saw to all their needs.
Over the centuries the role of the concierge has not changed much. Most commonly, a concierge is found in upscale
hotels where everyone is treated as a VIP. A trusted member of the staff, the concierge is still a keeper of the keys, and
still an authority in charge of meeting your more individualized needs.
The concierge's job is defined by the needs of the client and can do just about anything for you, as long as it is
legal and appropriate.
Today, individuals and families are finding use for this kind of personal assistant service at the home-use level, to
help with home-life and other individual tasks. A Personal Concierge is a trusted personal assistant to help you when you
are at your busiest.
Concierges encourage travelers to ask how they can be of help, no matter how outlandish or silly the request. There
is no such thing, they say, as a dumb question.
